Should doctors inform women their life is at risk?

“Do no harm.”

Those words stand out in the ethical oath of doctors in all countries.

But here’s the news: From now on, the contrary is true. At least if you plan to obey the law in the U.S. state of Arizona.

This week — the week of the International Women’s day — a bunch of old white men in the Arizona Senate decided to change the law so that if you are a pregnant woman in Arizona, your doctor can willfully abstain from telling you that you have a life-threatening condition. Because it’s better that you die than getting the chance to consider an abortion.

You might have thought that doctors were supposed to treat patients when they need treatment. But God wouldn’t want it that way.

It’s for your own good.
