From Friendly Athiest
I noticed three duplicate names. Were there actually two distinct gods with the same following names (respective of each other): Dagon, Mot, and Yarikh; or was it just a proof-reading error?
I’m not sure. There’s a similar list that’s linked from my About page. It lacks Mot and Yarikh.
Many gods have probably been forgotten without any remaining mentions, so a list like this can never be complete.
Ah, well I don’t think it matters. I’m just interested because I like mythology.
The point is well made, even if there are some doubled names and forgotten ones. I added them up and did the math and it turns out what atheists and Christians believe (or don’t believe) about gods is about 99.73% similar on the face of things (based on this list).
Amazing what a difference about a quarter of one percent makes.
